Mediumship by definition means the ability to communicate with loved ones that have passed on. There’s so much cloudiness on the actual definition and the stereotypes of what an Intuitive, Psychic, Medium, Clairvoyant are that here I would like to dispel any myths and give you an in depth look see in understanding of this mysticism.
Psychic/Intuitive
Wikipedia definition: “A person who possesses an ability to perceive information hidden from the normal senses through extrasensory perception (ESP)…”
Although I feel like this definition just barely covers the real work behind being a psychic, it at least describes the ability. Psychic and Intuitiveness isn’t captured or just gifted, it’s practiced. As I always say, “we all have this innately built into our psyche, it’s the unlocking and unlearning that allows it to blossom”. In my practice of being an Intuitive Medium, I offer psychic/intuitive information, along with connecting you with your loved ones who’ve passed. What I’m able to do is listen to the thought prior to the story. I can tell you it’s a lot of work, to allow your brain to shift and not decipher anything you hear. You end up having to quiet the mind and not judge anything, even your ‘duhhhhhh’ moments. It’s humbling to say the least.
For example: A brilliant innocent child just recently asked me one of the most amazing questions…, “So how do I start doing what you’re doing?” As I’m thrilled with the childlike mind and his question came so effortlessly the answer flowed out just like it appeared as I said, “If you want to do this the growth is learning how to listen.” Isn’t that the truth for all of us in our daily lives, open our hearts and listen.
Mediumship
Wikipedia definition: “Mediumship is defined as the practice of certain people—known as mediums—to mediate communication between spirits of the dead and other human beings.”
This definition is in basic terms just touching on what I do and honestly I don’t think of those who’ve passed over as ‘spirits of the dead’, rather I see them as your loved ones. Mediumship for me is not just a gift, it’s a way of being, a way of listening. It’s a lot of work but not in the way we go to work, or do things. It’s work in a way of practice. I continually practice listening through my own exercises. It looks like how I’m talking to you now. Basically, I hear (not through my ears), but I ‘hear’ thoughts, see pictures, etc. It’s like whispers of a storybook yet they’re only reading me words from the middle of the book. So you don’t know the title, or the outline, or even the characters till they tell you. Many times your loved ones come in all at once as they’re all on stage and everyone wants the microphone. By the way, there’s no hierarchy on the other side so, people who you have only met once or never met are standing with your family as they’re all one.
Psychic Mediumship means we usually not only get messages from your loved ones, but access information from the whole. Sometimes it appears to come from spirit guides or angels, sometimes from those you’ve known here on earth, but ultimately it’s more like tapping into the Universal knowledge/Source energy. Some call this God, Buddha, Great Spirit, Love, Angels, Higher Knowing…. whatever the word, it’s really all the same = connection through love. Clairvoyant
Wikipedia definition: “The term clairvoyance (from French clair meaning “clear” and voyance meaning “vision”) is used to refer to the ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses, a form of extra sensory perception. A person said to have the ability of clairvoyance is referred to as a clairvoyant (“one who sees clearly”).”
There are a group of ‘Clair’s’ that single out how Intuitives get their information as all Psychic’s abilities aren’t alike.
- Clairvoyance: The ability to see beyond what the eyes see.
- Clairaudience: The ability to hear outside our basic sensory system. The word means literally to clearly hear.
- Clairalience/Clairolfaction: The ability to smell/sense scent through our olfactory system. Usually this occurs when an Intuitive says, ‘Can you smell that?’, or ‘Did your mother smoke because that’s all I can smell right now?’.
- Clairsentence: The ability to touch/feel an object and get information from it. Basically objects, similar to electronics, exude energy. So, when an Intuitive feels the object, they’re getting a lot more information from that object than it’s physical substance…
- Clairgustance: The ability to taste what they’re reading. So if the reading comes in as a suicide through overdose, the Intuitive might taste the taste of pills in their mouth, or alcohol on their breath. It varies for every Psychic/Intuitive.
Note: All the ‘Clair’s’ usually show up in a reading for most Intuitives yet some specialize strongly in one or more.
